Local Producers Offer Home Deliveries and Online Shopping

Local Producers Offer Home Deliveries and Online Shopping

Many Hampshire Fare members, including producers, farm shops, village stores and box schemes, already offer home delivery of fresh and larder produce. In the current circumstances, others are also stepping in and stepping up to meet consumer needs - with new online sales and delivery services. In addition, some pubs, restaurants and cafes are currently offering takeaway options.

These services, both long established and new, are not only providing essential support to local communities. Buying local means that consumers will help to keep the local economy resilient in trying times.

Here is a link to our regularly updated downloadable round-up of members providing online shopping/delivery services.

Mentioning just a few: this list includes Evans Butchers in Alresord, who are offering delivery not only of meat, but fish, deli goods and fruit and vegetables. Owtons near Southampton and Solent Butchers in Portsmouth are both offering new meat box delivery services. Bere Mill, Whitchurch, have online shopping and weekly local delivery. Fresh fish can be delivered by Anyfish, Bishop's Waltham, and JS Fresh Fish, Southampton.

Meanwhile Harvest Fine Foods, who usually supply the hospitality industry, have started home deliveries to help those who can't get to the shops or are struggling to find what they need. Harvest can deliver to SO and PO postcodes (except Isle of Wight) and Barton-on-Sea, Bournemouth, Christchurch, Milford-on-Sea and New Milton.

Cold Pressed Oil Company have diversified into veg and meat box deliveries, which are proving to be seriously popular. Based in Crondall they are currently delivering to Fleet, Farnborough, Farnham, Elstead, Godalming and a bit of Alton. Owner Charlie Gardner is also looking at doing larger drops at local hubs if required.

Charlie Gardner says, "It has been so busy and we're working seven days a week to keep on top of it all [and] trying to support as many people as possible through all of this!"

Otherwise established box schemes already available include Bitterne Box Co (Southampton area) and Boxxfresh who operate out of Titchfield and deliver throughout Hampshire and beyond. Farmers' Choice (described as Hampshire's online farmers' market) have a wide range of local produce and are giving over-sixties exclusive access to shop online at Farmers Choice between 8.30am-9.30am.

Neither do you have to miss out on the simple pleasure of a pie and a pint now pubs are a no-go. Breweries such as Flack Manor are offering new home delivery services, while Mud Foods' award-winning vegan, veggie and meaty pies are availble to order online. In addition Farmers Choice have a good selection of The Great Hampshire Sausage & Pie Competition award-winners.

If you're running low on coffee then Moonroast has a 'brew at home' discount available through its website - having seen a huge increase in sales for home coffee brewing over the past couple of weeks.

Some cafes, pubs and restaurants are also providing takeaway menus. They include: Crown Inn at Arford (offering dishes and some essentials such as bread, eggs and milk); Crown Inn, Upton; Open House Deli, Winchester; Dish Deli & Kitchen, Romsey, and The Bakers Arms, Droxford. We suggest you approach them direct for more information (click on the name for a link through to their contact details) as services are constantly changing.

There are also many others. Check the link below for more information or contact your local independent to see what they may be offering. We will be continually updating our website and social media to keep everyone informed. Supermarket supply chains may be struggling, but consumers can buy direct from producers, or shop at local farm shops and village stores who may have the supplies you need.

Support local; eat well; keep healthy; stay safe.
