Helping Hospitality Action Get 'Back in Business'

Hospitality Action is a much needed and respected charity run by hospitality people for hospitality people. This charity understands the pressures faced by those within the industry and funds raised go towards critical support services including counselling, legal advice, financial planning, debt advice, addiction support, family support, and hardship grants. Last year with the hospitality industry in turmoil, teams from THE PIGs and Lime Wood took part in the Hospitality Action’s ‘To Hell & Back’ challenge to run, cycle, swim and walk to contribute to an industry target of 30k miles to raise money for hospitality people in need. Their teams smashed it, covering the 1500 mile target they set themselves and tripling their fundraising goal by reaching £30,000!

This year Hospitality Action have challenged the industry again in their ‘Back to Business’ fundraiser. Teams at Lime Wood and The PIGs are aiming to add to Hospitality Action’s 50k mile ‘Back in Business’ total by covering 10,000 miles during a busy summer service week from Friday 10th June – Monday 20th June. They have set the bar high and hope to raise a mega £40,000 in sponsorship!

This year the hospitality industry is back, and while it may seem like hospitality are getting into the swing of things, there are real crises being felt right now by many in the industry. So, 'Back in Business' is a way to celebrate the joy that hospitality brings to our lives in myriad ways and support the industry.

THE PIGs and Lime Wood are themselves celebrating being ‘Back in Business’ after a two-year hiatus. Smoked & Uncut, their home-grown festivals are also back, held at four locations, with the very first of these falling on 18th June, just as the teams are heading towards the finishing line!

With a nod to Smoked & Uncut, the teams are undertaking a virtual journey that takes in their Festival headliners’ home towns. The journey will start at THE PIGs’ and Lime Wood’s HQ in the New Forest, before heading north to Dennistoun, Glasgow for a motivational ‘Shout’ from Lulu. Then across the Atlantic to Earth Wind & Fire’s ‘Boogie Wonderland in New Orleans, Louisiana. Back on home soil with a wave to Jools Holland in Greenwich, London, knowing it is ‘Alright’ as they pass Supergrass in Oxford, before finally arriving back at HQ.

Each hotel team will be road and indoor cycling, trail and treadmill running, dog walking, lunchbreak walking and maybe even midnight walking to get in the miles over those 10 days. Whether you work within the industry or enjoy the lifestyle benefits of hospitality, find out more and consider supporting THE PIGs’ and Lime Wood’s team efforts HERE
