Congrats to Champion Cheeses

After a two-year hiatus, the Royal Bath & West Society are delighted to announce that the British Cheese Awards returned in 2022, and were held on 5th October 2022.

These prestigious Awards were established by Juliet Harbutt, one of the world’s leading authorities on all things cheese, back in 1994, with the Royal Bath & West Society taking ownership of the Awards in 2015. The Awards continue to thrive, attracting over 800 entries from cheese-makers from across the UK.

The results are now out! One success story from the event was Hampshire Cheese Company’s Winslade. This Vacherin/Camembert cross is encircled in a spruce collar and was not only awarded Gold, but also named both Best Soft White in the Main Category Awards and Best Cheese from a Member of the Specialist Cheesemaker’s Association.

Gold was also given to Stoney Cross (Modern British Cow’s Cheese category) from Lyburn Farmhouse Cheeses, while Two Hoots Cheese’s Barkham Blue received Gold for Celebrity Choice.

Silver was given to: Hampshire Cheese Company for Tunworth; Laverstoke Park Farm for Organic Buffalo Mozzarella; Lyburn Farmhouse Cheesemakers for both their Lyburn Garlic & Nettle and their Lyburn Winchester; and Two Hoots Cheese for their Barkham Blue.

Bronze went to: Lyburn Farmhouse Cheesemakers for Lyburn Lightly Oak Smoked and Lyburn Old Winchester; and Two Hoots Cheese for Baby Barkham.
