Young Cook's Competition

Young Cook's Competition

We are all aware that healthy eating and nutrition is very important to the development and the wellbeing of our children. With this in mind, Owtons would like to invite the children from local schools to our new and exciting annual cooking competition in association with Fullers.

There are two age groups: Under 8 and 9-12 yrs.

Download the form or complete online. Don’t forget to have those ingredients and images handy!

The competition is based on the children cooking their favourite dish over the summer holidays with minimal help from their parents.

To enter the competition the children need to take photographs of the Preparation, Cooking and Plated Dish with a description of what they did including the ingredients. This is either entered by a postal entry or online.

All entries will receive a participation certificate and the best children’s recipes will be promoted on the Young Cooks section of the Owton’s website. Young Cooks chef hats and aprons will be given to children who are chosen to cook for the Judges.

Entries will be reviewed by our panel of judges and 10 entrants from each age group will be chosen based on their recipe, preparation, cooking and presentation. These nominees will then be invited to a ‘Location Cook Off’ during October. At this event they will be required to cook their dish in front of the judges. The judges will talk to the children and ultimately taste each dish, where a winner will be decided for each age group.

Closing date for entries will be the 12th September with the ‘Cook Off’ happening during October, dates and location will be announced shortly.
