Tuck in to a tasty day out at The Top of the Town
Celebrity chef Brian Turner is set to join local food and drink producers to cook up a treat at this year’s Taste at the Top of Town.
The popular food festival returns to Basingstoke on Sunday 31 July, following its huge success last year when it attracted an audience of more than 4,500 people.
This year’s event promises to be even better with acclaimed chef Brian Turner and regional chefs creating mouth-watering dishes in the food theatre. Brian is the President of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts and for many years has been a well-known face on TV cookery shows including Ready Steady Cook, Saturday Kitchen, A Taste of Britain, and My Life on a Plate.
Taste at the Top of the Town, from 10am to 5pm in Market Place, will feature local Hampshire food producers and quality market stalls plus food-themed street theatre and family activities.
A food trail will offer local restaurant discounts and watch out for Plunge Boom’s Vegetable Nannies who will be providing entertainment for all the family to enjoy.
Deputy Leader Cllr Terri Reid said: “We are delighted to see the return of Taste at Top of the Town for a second year - it proved phenomenally popular last year and I am sure it will attract many people again this year as we have another brilliant celebrity chef and a packed food programme on offer.
“Join us on 31 July and tickle your tastebuds with this delicious day out!”
Taste at Top of the Town is organised by Proteus Theatre Company and BIG Adventures on behalf of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.
