Get into the Refill Habit with Lemon & Jinja

Lemon & Jinja is the UK’s largest independent refill store and scooped a trio of sustainability awards in 2023

Lemon & Jinja is helping to make being sustainable that bit easier. Lemon & Jinja is a local and independent refill store, sustainable lifestyle and plant based cafe in Romsey. In 2023, they expanded to new, bigger premises and quickly made it their home! With over 2,000 products in store, you can refill just about anything including oils and pantry foods, kitchen and bathroom fluids. They strive to work with the local community, educating on sustainability and our impact on the environment. They also host local litter picks, second hand clothes swaps, natural cleaning workshops, talks at schools and much more. It is perhaps not surprising then that Lemon & Jinja won a trio of sustainability awards last year.

Sophie Roe, Manager, explains: “In June, we were voted Best Sustainable Business in Hampshire for the second year running in the Muddy Stilettos Awards 2023. After becoming finalists in our category, we were absolutely thrilled to win the overall title as Best Sustainable Lifestyle Business for England.

“Then, in October, we attended the Southern Sustainability Awards at Hilton Ageas Bowl after successfully becoming finalists in the ISO 14001 Business of the Year awards category. The ISO 14001 sets the standard for environmental management systems, demonstrating our commitment to protecting the environment as a business. It was a huge event, with many other businesses from a range of sectors all celebrating sustainable wins and achievements for 2023. We won our category for ISO 14001 Business of the Year 2023! Jesse Roe (the business owner) and I received the award which was presented to us by Fred Dineage.”

Lemon & Jinja’s mission is to provide education and support to significantly reduce household waste by providing refill & reuse options. However, their vision goes above and beyond delivering environmentally sustainable products. They strive to help customers, businesses and educational organisations to become more sustainable, through education, word-of-mouth and leading by example.

Sophie commented: “2023 has proven to be such a huge year for us, and we are all so proud of our team and hugely thankful to our loyal customers.”
