English wine is reportedly booming. It’s taken many years for English wine to be taken seriously in this country let alone internationally but it seems that at last the talent of our local winemakers is being recognised.

Hampshire’s chalky soil and climate make it on a par with the Champagne region for growing conditions. It is no surprise then that wine from Hampshire Vineyards won multiple awards at two recent international wine competitions. Read more.

The Hampshire Food Festival provides a rare opportunity to discover some of the 42 vineyards in Hampshire and taste local wine. Here are some of the Hampshire Food Festival events ideal for local wine lovers.

‘Wine and Dine’ with Hampshire Produce and English Wines at The Thomas Lord
1st July-1st August (except Sundays), 12-2.30pm and 6-9.30pm

Vineyards of Hampshire Wine Festival
Saturday 12th July, 12pm-4.30pm, Hambledon VIneyard
Hosted by Hambledon Vineyard, this event brings together six of Hampshire’s vineyards. Meet the winemakers, join a guided tour of the winery and of course taste local wine. You will also be able to sample delicious Hampshire produce and enjoy a Hog roast and a South African braai.
