Newlyns Farm Shop celebrates ten year anniversary

Multi award-winning Newlyns Farm Shop, Caf? and Cookery School are celebrating their ten year anniversary this coming spring. The farm shop first opened its doors on Monday 22nd March 2004 and started with just four staff and a small butchery counter. Ten years later the shop has a workforce of forty-five and it will reopen on Monday 17th March with a larger, refurbished farm shop caf?, a brand new delicatessen counter and an extended butchery department with a delicious new butchery product range.

Newlyns won Hampshire Life Food and Drinks Awards Best Butchery 2013 and Farm Shop of the Year 2011, Best on Farm Butcher FARMA Awards 2012, British Cookery School Awards Best Use of Local Ingredients 2012, Inspire Business Awards Rural Business of the Year 2008 and 2010, Countryside Alliance Best Local Food Award 2009, Hampshire Life Best Meat Producer 2007.

The farm caf? will close from Monday 17th February for four weeks allowing Newlyns to expand and modernise the caf? area and build a new alfresco, patio garden area, creating a welcoming atmosphere in which to enjoy all your favourite Newlyns lunches, snacks and drinks. There will also be a new, improved play area for children.

The farm shop will close on Monday 3rd March for two weeks for refurbishments, which will see the shop being extensively renovated and an increase in the size and ranges stocked in the butchery and delicatessen with ready prepared salads, ready made sandwiches, sausage rolls, spring rolls and other cooked meats and cheeses.

The Newlyns farm shop intends to re-open on Monday 17th March and Newlyns will be celebrating the new opening with a tenth anniversary lambing weekend on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd March from 10am-3pm. There will be a chance to bottle feed lambs, straw up the sheep's beds, learn all about the use of wool, take part in lambing quizzes and watch the shepherd and his sheep dog round up sheep. Different breeds of sheep will be on display as will chicks and ducklings from our local farm eggs supplier. Children can enjoy the mini tractor ride-on area and watch the sheep racing. There will be a barbecue and hog roast on the day and plenty of chances to sample our products in the farm shop. There's no need to book up just turn up on the day and help us celebrate ten years of enjoying food the Newlyns way! The event will cost £3 per adult and is free for children under three.

Please note:

Pregnant women are advised not to visit the lambing sheds. Food must not be consumed in the lambing sheds. Please ensure that you wash your hands thoroughly after the visit, especially if you have touched an animal and before eating food. Please do not take dogs to this event.
