Local street food awards entry deadline extended
Hampshire Street Food Awards has announced it will be extending the entry deadline for its inaugural awards until June 2019 so more vendors have the chance to enter.
Headline sponsor, Aerial Direct called for free entry for everyone. The Fareham-based telecommunications service provider wants local businesses to ensure they get the recognition they deserve and therefore will be covering the cost of all entry fees. Vendors who have already entered the awards will be refunded.
The awards, that take place at Portsmouth Guildhall in November 2019, are encouraging people to enter or nominate their favourite street food vendors from around the county in categories such as best burger or best locally sourced produce. A new category ‘Noisy Neighbours’ means vendors from further afar who cater at events in Hampshire can now get involved.
Founder of the awards Jeremy Gaskin said “Having Aerial Direct as our headline sponsor is such an honour, especially as this is the first year of the awards. Their generosity to make entries free means that even more vendors can enter and a wider variety of people can showcase their amazing local street food.
“The awards are shaping up to be an incredible event. There is such a varied array of categories I’m eager to see the diverse entrants and what they bring to the local Hampshire street food scene. We are hoping to uncover some hidden gems now the public are able to nominate their favourite vendors”
In light of the news of the awards becoming free to enter, the award entry deadline has now been moved to Saturday 1st June. Once the entries close vendors are encouraged to have their customers vote for them through the website. A panel of judges will decide the overall winners from the top three in each category.
