Local Businesses Cater for Community Christmas Lunch

Award-Winning family butchers Alf Turner are supporting a festive initiative by providing the turkeys for a special local Community Christmas Lunch for those who are on their own on Christmas Day. The Community Christmas Lunch will be held at Princes Hall in Aldershot and is being hosted and organised by local business, Hi-Speed Services, a courier service with headquarters in Ash Vale.

Ian Dawkins, Managing Director, Hi-Speed Services, comments: “No one should be alone on Christmas Day.”

Paul Turner of Alf Turner, explains: “When we heard about this fantastic community lunch, we knew that as a local business we had to be involved. In these difficult times we feel it is important that the community comes together to help and support those who might be spending Christmas alone.”

The Community Christmas Day Lunch consists of a traditional two-course Christmas meal with Alf Turner providing the turkeys and Clark Caterers preparing the food, supported by Rushmoor Voluntary Services and Rushmoor Borough Council.

The aim is to combat loneliness, therefore places are available for individuals only from the local community in Hampshire and Surrey who would otherwise be by themselves on Christmas Day. There is no charge and there will be space for 250 adults (16 plus) over two sittings. Vegetarian and vegan options are available and there will be no alcohol at the event.

This is one of a series of community initiatives that Ian and his team at Hi-Speed Services organise throughout the year. Another festive initiative includes a Christmas Gift Appeal to help support families facing hardship and make sure that every child in the local area receives a gift, and Charity Partnerships to give back to the community. Tracy Nash, Commercial Manager, Hampshire Fare, comments: “We are delighted to be able to promote our member Alf Turner’s involvement in this heartfelt, helpful initiative. Time and again we are amazed at the support that local businesses give to their local communities. It is what the Christmas season is surely all about – coming together to help others.”
