Just a Spoonful of Honey...
Sales of honey are on the increase with honey now the UK’s most popular spread (sorry, jam lovers). At this time of year, honey is also appreciated for more than being a natural sweetener. Honey has many benefits, it boosts immunity, improves digestion and gut health, and also helps fight coughs and colds. In fact honey is better for us than conventional treatments for coughs, blocked noses and sore throats according to research. Analysis of studies has shown that honey is particularly effective for treating the frequency and severity of coughing.
However, make sure you buy honey from traditional local beekeepers, Full of goodness and flavour, honey is also incredibly versatile. You can spread it on your breakfast toast, spoon over root vegetables before roasting with Sunday lunch, or dribble over pancakes and desserts.
