January: What's in season?
Many people use January as a time to shake off the excesses of the festive season and commit to a healthy eating plan. With plenty of nutritional vegetables on offer including the superfood of the moment, kale, it shouldn't be hard to stay healthy.
Fruit and nuts: apples, forced rhubarb, pears and chestnuts.
Vegetables and herbs: Brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, horseradish, Jersusalem artichokes, kale, leeks, parsnips, potatoes, swede, turnips and wild mushrooms.
Meat and fish: clams, duck, goose, grouse, hare, hogget, partridge, pheasant, rabbit, turkey, venison, clams, mackerel, monkfish, mussels, mutton, oysters and whelks.
