It's Gold for Raimes

It's Gold for Raimes

Hampshire wine makers, Raimes English Sparkling, were recently awarded one of 16 gold medals at the London Wine Competition entered by 26 wine producing regions from across the world. The competition has been dubbed the world's most relevant so to achieve the tenth highest score from thousands of entrants is certainly an achievement worth raising a glass to!

“We knew our Classic was in with a good chance - it is delicious with heaps of apple and stone fruit, a layer of toasty notes, intense yet smooth and enjoyable” said a delighted owner, Augusta Raimes.

The ten acre vineyard is devoted to the classic sparkling wine varieties grown on chalk slopes near Hinton Ampner. The vines were planted by the Raimes family on their farm back in 2011, their wines have already gained an impressive following of fans. A bottle of the award-winning wine retails at £30, it has won over international critics with its drinkability, packaging presentation and value for money.

There will be chance to tour the vines and taste Raimes collection of wines at the Vineyards of Hampshire Wine Festival being held on Sunday 22nd July at Raimes Vineyards. Seven of the county's vineyards will gather at the event to showcase their wines, visitors will have the opportunity to talk to producers, taste and buy from the wide range of Hampshire wines. Find out more and book tickets.
