It's a Win for The Fox and Hounds in Lyndhurst
Fuller, Smith & Turner P.L.C., the London brewer and premium pub company, is delighted to announce that The Fox and Hounds in Lyndhurst, Hampshire, has been named winner of the Best Country/Village Pub category in the Company’s annual pub of the year contest, The Griffin Trophy. The pub is run by General Manager, Thomas Tomlinson.
Following an extensive selection process, the final nine contenders of The Griffin Trophy were all visited by Chairman Micahel Turner, Chief Executive Simon Emeny, and Corporate Affairs Director Richard Fuller to choose the overall winner. The result was announced at a ceremony held in the Board Room at the Company's world-famous Griffin Brewery in Chiswick, West London on Thursday 8 November 2018.
The Griffin Trophy awards recognise the efforts and achievements of the company's top managers and tenants in four categories: Best City/London Pub, Best Hotel/Inn, Best Town/Local Pub and Best Country/Village Pub. An overall winner is also chosen.
Presenting the award to Thomas Tomlinson, Michael Turner said: "A former coaching inn, The Fox and Hounds is a destination pub in the heart of the New Forest, where eaters and drinkers alike are looked after with the same friendly and professional service. All on one floor, but with four different areas to this idyllic pub, Thomas and his team cater to a variety of events and guest requirements – from a quiet drink to a large function.
“Food is at the centre of The Fox and Hounds’ success and leading the kitchen team is Paul Proost, Fuller’s Young Chef of the Year finalist. Paul and his team are renowned for creating delicious, premium dishes with the freshest ingredients and locally sourced produce. The stand out attraction of the food offer is the rotisserie, which is a treat for all the senses.
“I am delighted to present this award to Thomas and The Fox and Hounds. His hard work and exceptional standards establish this pub as a landmark in the Fuller’s estate and in the New Forest.”
Thomas Tomlinson, General Manager of The Fox and Hounds, added: “Our success at The Fox and Hounds is down to one thing: our amazing team. It is brilliant to be recognised in this way – we have developed a food and drinks business with exceptional customer service that we are incredibly proud of at The Fox and Hounds and we never stop looking for ways to make it even better.”
The prize for winning the category comprises a £2,000 holiday, a staff party and an engraved plaque for the pub.
