Introducing: A Basket of Bees
For Jim Parkhouse, bees offer a therapeutic alternative to his office day job: “Looking after bees is something quite special, the gentle buzz and different smells you get when going through the hive is very soporific.”
Jim’s first foray into bee keeping was when he came across the Basingstoke Beekeeper Association at a local event. He was looking for advice on gardening and growing vegetables and he realised how integral bees are to our gardens and the environment.
A year after this initial interaction, Jim and his wife welcomed their first colony of bees. In 2010 A Basket of Bees was launched selling beeswax candles and skincare. In recent months, Jim has been developing a new skincare products to add to his popular range.
“Over the years we have had great feedback from people who have been surprised by how our natural skincare has helped their sensitive skin” explained Jim. “You don’t have to cover yourself in chemicals to look younger. Our new range of honey soaps, shower gels and shampoos with essential oils should help to keep skin in peak condition.”

Carrot Seed Hand Soap and Shower Gel
Carrot Seed essential oil properties can help strengthen skin. The antioxidants help to repair the natural wear and tear of life, helping skin keep its elasticity and youth. It can also help skin retain moisture therefore rejuvenating tired and dry skin.
Although it can help many skin problems like eczema and psoriasis, it may not be suitable for people with sensitive skin. It has an earthy aroma.

Clary Sage essential oil can help with strengthening and toning the skin and hair follicles, helping reduce hair loss. Also helps balance skin oils for both oily and dry skin.
Vanilla Hand Soap and Shower Gel
Benzoin essential oil properties include, antiseptic and disinfectant qualities helping keep cuts and grazes clean. It can help to tone up the skin and improve the natural reduction of wrinkles. It may also help with rheumatism and arthritis and has a light uplifting Vanilla aroma.
Gardeners Hand Soap
This soap features Cajuput essential oil which has antiseptic properties to help keep skin free from infection keeping cuts and wounds clean and encourage quick and effective healing. A general skin tonic helping tone up and brighten the skin and has a eucalyptus aroma.
