Hampshire Fare Returns To Winchester's Christmas Market

Hampshire Fare Returns To Winchester's Christmas Market

Discover ‘local’ with Hampshire Fare at Winchester Cathedral’s Christmas Market. Hampshire Fare, the county food and drink group, is returning to Winchester’s Christmas Market for the third time with a chalet dedicated to local artisan produce, running from 4th to 22nd December.

Tracy Nash, Commercial Manager, Hampshire Fare, says: “The Hampshire Fare chalet at Winchester Cathedral’s Christmas Market is becoming established as one of the highlights of our members’ events calendar. Different artisan producers take over the chalet each day: it is a rota of local loveliness!”

The chalet is valued by Hampshire Fare members as it allows small artisan producers to have a presence at this Christmas Market which is ranked as one of the best in the country. This opportunity to have a pop-up at the Market has encouraged some producers to take on their own stall, such as New Forest Shortbread who had a pop-up in the Hampshire Fare chalet last year and are running their own stall this year (also 4th to 22nd December).

The Hampshire Fare chalet is also popular with visitors to the Christmas Market as its continually changing selection of quality local food and drink means there is always something new to discover that is perfect for festive celebrations or as delicious gifts. The showcase of local produce includes ales, apple juices, cider, English wines, fruit liqueurs, fudge, loose leaf teas, gins, meads, non-alcoholic cocktails, olives, rums, smoked trout pâtés and sourdough breads. A great gift suggestion is a hamper of local goodies from the New Forest Hamper Company (taking over the chalet on 5th and 6th December). Altogether this year the Hampshire Fare chalet will have a rota of 18 local producers from across the county, including Basingstoke, Bordon, Gosport, New Forest, Petersfield, Selbourne, Test Valley and Winchester.

Tracy Nash adds, “At Hampshire Fare we have seen a growing interest in ‘conscious consumerism’: people making purchases based on making a positive social, economic and environmental impact. Buying local is usually the greenest, more sustainable option. Local is top quality, too, and every purchase goes towards supporting local businesses, communities and economies. By shopping local at the Hampshire Fare chalet, people are achieving all of this while having a wonderful seasonal experience visiting Winchester Cathedral’s Christmas Market. It’s a win win!”
