Family Festival Time
The Hampshire Food Festival is the perfect excuse to get out and about with all the family on a tasty path of discovery.
From fruit picking to farm tours there is plenty to get children excited about where their food comes from. Pack a picnic and join Blackmoor Estate on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd July for their Cherry Open Day. You will learn how cherries are grown, walk the orchards and have the chance to buy fresh fruit from the cherry market.
The Lavender Fields near Alton will open their gates on the 7th, 8th, 14th and 15th July for tours, talks, tractor rides, cream teas and plant sales. Whilst Lyburn Farm near Landford is offering evening tractor tours of their farm on the 3rd, 4th, 10th, 11th and 12th July.
Children eager for some hands-on action can enjoy a cookery class at The Bugle with Fresh Kitchen Cookery School. The two-hour workshop will focus on organic ingredients. Franklyn’s Fish Farm near Alresford is offering summer fishing lessons on Monday 30th and Tuesday 31st July for children age 9 and over.
Spend £15 on pick-your-own fruit at Durleighmarsh Farm during July and you will receive a free ice-cream for you (or the children!). Children with an appetite for the aquatic can have their eyes opened to a variety of fish at the JS Fresh Fish Pop-up Restaurant on 30th June, 1st July, 14th July and 15th July.
