Enjoy local beer at this week's Southampton Beer Festival
More than 3,000 customers are expected to attend this year's Southampton Beer Festival, which takes place at Southampton Guildhall. Festival organiser Rob Whatley said, 'We had a record attendance last year and current ticket sales suggest another bumper attendance this year. It's great to see that local drinkers continue to support this event, where the best of locally brewed beers and some from further afield can be sampled.'
Overall beer sales may be declining but regional and local breweries continue to thrive. Beers from nineteen Hampshire breweries will be on offer. Customers will be able to sample a wide range of beer styles including wheat beers, IPAs, pale ales, milds, golden ales, porters, barley wines, stouts, brown ales and lagers. Other beers will have additional ingredients such as apricots, elderflower, ginger, orange, tea and coffee! There will also be a range of bottled beers, draught cider and perry.
The 17th Southampton Beer Festival will open at 6.30pm on Thursday 6 June and the last pint will be poured at 11.00pm on Saturday 8 June. To keep the customers entertained there will be a variety of musical entertainment, food, stalls and a tombola.
Southampton Beer Festival is organised by the Southern Hampshire branch of CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale. It takes place on Thursday to Saturday, 6 to 8 June. Tickets are selling fast with some sessions already sold out, for ticket details contact the Guildhall box office or visit the link below.
