LEAF Open Farm Sunday

On the 9th June many farms in the country are opening their doors for LEAF Open Farm Sunday.

A farming industry annual open day where local farms open their doors to the public, giving them the fantastic chance to discover real farming at first hand and to see for themselves how their food is produced.

Some of our very own Hampshire Fare members are involved this year, so why not come and show your support and bring your friends and family down for some fun tours and tractor rides and more. 

Briddlesford Lodge Farm  - Tours start at 3pm. Free to attend but other charges apply. Booking is essential via email judi@briddlesfordlodgefarm.co.uk 

Tour of farm - seeing their award winning pedigree herd of Guernsey cows and calves, barns, machinery. Learning about crops grown and feeding of livestock; Tractor ride around the fields looking at solar panels, standing crops, pastures, Environmental practices. Visit the Farm Shop and Café. Broughton Water Buffalo - Event times are 10am-4pm. Free to attend, simply turn up!

A Hampshire Farmers Market at the Buffalo Farm, farm walks, falconry displays, live music, bushcraft, archery and kids activities.

Leckford Estate The Waitrose Farm - Event times are 10am-4pm. Free to attend but other charges apply.

Meet the farmers and food producers who work on the Estate and meet their friends and associates who help them to look after the environment. Activities taking place are: Cows and milking at the Dairy. Machinery and crop display. Find out about the stages of mushroom growth. How they make rapeseed oil, from crop to bottle. The science of milk processing. Meet the miller, from wheat grain to flour. All about eggs with Stonegate. The world of bees with their local beekeeper. Meet members of the John Spedan Lewis Trust, learn about their conservation work and dedication to flora and fauna. Tractor/trailer farm tours. Self guided walking route.
