With a Little Bit of Help

The Little Kitchen Company is known as an event caterer, bistro and supper club. However, in ‘lockdown’ their service has shifted towards something they already did very well - homemade ready meals, now being delivered to your door with social distancing doorstep chat included. Managing Director Cait Salanson explains: “We pivoted our business a month ago to supplying meals to the vulnerable, isolated and elderly. We have been overwhelmed with the support and gratitude we have received. It was completely unexpected. We are being called a lifeline to residents who can't get out or who are scared. They, in turn, are assured of a homemade proper and tasty meal each day.”

Encouraged, Cait has taken her meal service further – to the critical care team at her local hospital.

Cait continues: “We have now teamed up with Food4heroes (a charity getting food to those on the frontline who are looking after the nation in this crisis), supplying these same meals direct to the ICU critical care team at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester. We have been supplying these all week and will continue to do so for as long as they need us.

“These are charity meals. In this small way we can keep busy and try to keep our business alive. We are not making any charge for our kitchens, utilities, deliveries, staff or petrol. Our team are out on the road each day delivering and we are doing about 100 meals a day at the moment.”
