Eating Out Comes Home

Eating Out Comes Home

Who is missing eating out? You are not alone! We all are - whether it's a bite to eat down the pub, somewhere to celebrate a special occasion, or simply a change from home-cooking. Surely most of us are flagging from finding inspiration to cook something delicious (and nurtritious) every day.

Help is at hand. A few pubs, cafes, supper clubs and restaurants are coming up with tasty solutions. Check out your local to find out what is available. Here are just a few suggestions. First up, Grate Catering (who usually run supper clubs and cater for events) have come up with a Taco Home Kit (available in portion sizes for one, two or four people) delivered every Friday to postcodes PO1-PO6. Meat and veggie versions available, and the menu changes weekly.

The Royal Exchange, near Bordon, are running a click and collect takeaway service operating Wednesday to Sunday with a menu of pub classics such as burgers, fish and chips, and steak and ale pies. (The picture, by Milly Fletcher, shows one of their burgers.)

There's also The Blue Bell Inn, Emsworth, where owner Giles Babb has come up with a selection of imaginative ready meals (chilled and frozen) for people to collect and cook at home. The emphasis is on comfort food, including fish pie, steak and guinness stew with mash, lasagne and chilli con carne. Check out The Blue Bell's instagram page for weekly menu updates which can include Chalkstream trout fishcakes with homemade mushy peas and tartare sauce.
