10th anniversary Hampshire Food Festival showcases local food throughout July

The Hampshire Food Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary throughout July (1st – 31st) with a packed programme of events showcasing local food and drink across the county.

Festival events include tractor-trailer tours and walks around orchards and dairy, livestock, vegetable, garlic and lavender farms; open days to see how ice-cream, cheese, wine, beer and apple juice is made; workshops for adults and children in bee-keeping, cookery, bread-making, chocolate-making and growing-your-own fruit and veg; country shows and Hampshire Farmers’ Markets; cookery demonstrations and plenty of opportunities to enjoy gourmet lunches, cream teas and dinners using seasonal Hampshire produce.

‘Celebrity chefs‘ taking part include James Martin, Alex Aitken, Atul Kochhar, Raymond Blanc, Ed Baines and John Burton-Race as well as vegetarian food writer Rose Elliot.

To mark the Festival’s 10th anniversary, generous messages of support for The Hampshire Food Festival have been given by numerous top chefs who have been involved in the past 10 years of the Festival, including James Martin, Gordon Ramsay, Atul Kochhar, Mark Hix, Sophie Grigson, Alex Aitken, Raymond Blanc and Phil Vickery.

Raymond Blanc said: “As someone who applauds any effort to get people to support local food producers, I am very, very pleased that The Hampshire Food Festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary....I congratulate Hampshire Fare on their ten years of telling the world about the excellence of the produce of the county.”

Gordon Ramsay said: “Hampshire is abundant with fantastic produce, from the rich agricultural land and from the coastline. The Hampshire Food Festival makes it possible to really celebrate the best that the country has to offer.”

James Martin said: “I have lived and worked in Hampshire for the past 16 years and I am passionate about the amazing diverse produce the county has to offer. From great fish to amazing meats and plentiful amounts of fresh salads and vegetables, there is everything here for the keen foodie.”

There are fabulous prizes to be won including luxury short breaks at top Hampshire hotels and local produce hampers, and the programme also includes details of places to stay during the Festival.
