Corporate Friend
National Trust
“We are committed to supporting local food and to serving local and seasonal food in all our restaurants and tea-rooms. The National Trust is proud and delighted to be a Corporate Friend of Hampshire Fare, whose aims and ambitions we support whole-heartedly.”
Kevin Pyatt, Regional Catering Manager for The National Trust
The National Trust is passionate about local food. As the country's largest landowner, the Trust is involved in the whole food chain from farmland to the many historic kitchen gardens, orchards and mills that we own and look after. The Trust also owns and runs over 150 tea-rooms and restaurants, where millions of people every year enjoy home-cooked, local and seasonal food.
As evidence of our commitment to local food, the National Trust is bringing many of its kitchen gardens back to life, has launched a new project to halt the loss of traditional orchards and is running a major national campaign throughout 2009 entitled Food Glorious Food.
You can enjoy local and seasonal food in the tea-rooms and restaurants of three National Trust properties in Hampshire: Hinton Ampner, Mottisfont and The Vyne. At the City Mill in Winchester you can find out how flour is produced, see milling demonstrations at weekends, and buy bags of the flour it produces, now used by many acclaimed local restaurants and bakers.
