Winchester Coffee Festival
Guildhall Winchester and Cabinet Rooms have announced that they are to co-host Winchester’s first coffee festival on Friday 29 September 2017.
The festival is an event of two parts, comprising Winchester’s Biggest Coffee Morning from 10.30am to 2pm and the Festival of Coffee from 6pm to 10pm.
There is a suggested donation of £2.50 to enter the Coffee Morning, which goes straight to Macmillan Cancer Support. Whilst inside the event, visitors will have the opportunity to visit many of Winchester’s favourite independent coffee businesses and local roasters to sample different brews and cakes. Participating businesses will all be donating a portion of their sales on the day to Macmillan Cancer Support. Entertainment will be provided by the Spitfire Sisters and visitors will even have the opportunity to enter their own bakes into Winchester’s frst city-wide “Bake Off”, organised by multi-award-winning cake artist and baking writer Sarah Sibley.
Entrance for the evening event is possible with a ticket purchased in advance from the Guildhall website, Tourist Information Centre or Cabinet Rooms. Earlybird tickets are available at £10 before 15 September, rising to £15 each in the run up to the event. A small number of tickets may be available at £20 on the night itself dependent on availability and so it is recommended to book early to avoid disappointment. The evening event will take on more of a party atmosphere, with coffee cocktails from Cabinet Rooms and bar sponsor, Conker Spirit, whose Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur from Dorset is causing a stir with coffee lovers across the region. Entertainment will be provided by DJ Super Kat, who recently had crowds jumping around at Graze Festival in Twyford.
“Since launching our events back in 2015, we’ve been keen to organise a fundraising event for this cause,” explains co-founder of Cabinet Rooms, Gary Whiter. “With 2.5 million people in the UK living with the cancer, it’s something that affects nearly everybody either directly or indirectly at some point. We have long admired the work done by Macmillan Cancer Support who provide medical, emotional and ?nancial support for those who face cancer, and their loved ones, so it’s a real privilege to be able to work with the charity and the Guildhall team to raise vital funds for this important cause.”
Macmillan’s Fundraising Manager for South West Hampshire, Ryan Howarth said: “Sadly the number of people being diagnosed with cancer is increasing every year and that means Macmillan’s support for people living with cancer is in more demand than ever. “At Macmillan, we know how cancer can affect everything. We’re here to help people live life, no matter what, but we can't do it without the amazing people who fundraise for us. Donations received from this event will go towards helping Macmillan support people affected by cancer at the time they need us most.”
Winchester’s favourite independent businesses are pulling together to make this event a success, including Flat White’s, Moonroast, the Cornerhouse, Chococo, Killed by Coffee and many more.
