A Taste of Success
Hampshire Fare members have done the region proud at the recent Great Taste Awards. An impressive 33 products made by Hampshire Fare members were awarded stars. With 10,000 entries and only 31% receiving a star this is certainly something to celebrate.
Described as the ‘Oscars’ of the food world the awards are organised by the Guild of Fine Foods. Many consumers see the Great Taste logo as a sign you can trust when buying food and drink. The awards involve over 400 judges tasting and assessing products across 49 judging days.
The judges were so impressed by Stoney Cross produced by Lyburn Farmhouse Cheeses that they awarded it 3 stars and placed it in the Top 50 Foods list, an outstanding achievement. Other local award winners include Parsonage Farm, Summerdown Mint Farm, Chalk Stream Foods, Jude’s Ice Cream, A Pinch of Salt, Catch IOW, Owtons Butchers, Charlotte Brown’s Handmade, Belinda Clark Gourmet Confectioner, The Tomato Stall, New Forest Ice Cream, Olives Direct, Farmers’ Choice and Wild Island.
Tracy Nash, Commercial Manager at Hampshire Fare commented on the award news, “We are so pleased for our local producers. They all work tirelessly and create such delicious products it is fantastic to see them receive some well-deserved recognition.”
